Mario Testino’s celebrity photos at the MFA Boston
Unforgettable images of the British royal family and other international superstars are on display in two current exhibits at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts.
“Mario Testino: In Your Face,” running now through Feb. 3, showcases fashion photographer Testino’s glamour shots of such celebrities such as Gisele Bundchen, Lady Gaga, Mick Jagger, and Brad Pitt. “British Royal Portraits,” on view now through June 16, includes images of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, their sons William and Harry, and recent photos of William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – many of which have never been seen before in the U.S.
During the course of Testino’s 30-year career, his photos have graced the covers of Vogue, Allure, and Vanity Fair and have illustrated ads for
high-fashion houses like Chanel and Gucci. His provocative images blur the line between fine art and pop culture, and his show is an edgy change of pace for the Museum of Fine Arts.
