Stay at Kendall for the 2013 Head of the Charles

The best rowing teams in the world are set to compete in the 2013 Head of the Charles regatta on Oct. 19-20. Started in 1965, the event now attracts more than 9,000 participants and 300,000 spectators. It’s a perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy a lovely fall weekend in New England!

Spectators line the banks and bridges along the challenging three-mile course, which begins at the Boston University Boathouse and finishes just after the Eliot Bridge by the Artesani Playground in Brighton. Here in Cambridge, we’re lucky to have a prime viewing location at the course’s halfway mark – the Weld Exhibition. This great vantage point, near Harvard’s Weld Boathouse, features local food vendors, live music, and a carnival atmosphere. Best of all, it’s a short subway ride away from The Kendall Hotel, so there’s no need to find parking (which is always scarce this weekend).

Or if you like, take the subway into the city and stake out a spot at Reunion Village on the Boston side of the river. Reunion Village includes alumni tents, plenty of food and drink, and play-by-play commentary on all the races.

Head of the Charles is always a festive time in Cambridge, and here at the Kendall Hotel, we’re excited to be part of the fun! To book a room with us, click here. To learn more about the Head of the Charles races and events, check out their website.
