One of the things that makes Cambridge such a vibrant, exciting town is our mix of residents and visitors from all over the world. Help us celebrate our diversity at the 22nd Cambridge Carnival International, a free Caribbean-style street festival in Kendall Square, on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014.
The largest annual festival in Cambridge, the carnival is best known for its spectacular parade through the streets of Cambridge featuring steel bands and troops of dancers in colorful handmade costumes. This year the parade kicks off at 12:30 p.m. near the Charles River, proceeds up River Street to Massachusetts Avenue and Main Street, and ends at the viewing stage in Kendall Square near MIT.
Musical performances by Caribbean, Afro-pop, reggae, calypso and roots bands will be featured all afternoon on the international stage, along with DJs spinning a festive selection of world music. International vendors will offer food and handcrafts with a multicultural flair. Children’s activities include arts and crafts and face painting.
