The Kendall Welcomes Returning MIT Students and Staff!

UnknownWith MIT classes resuming after Labor Day, the Kendall Square neighborhood is starting to buzz with students and faculty returning to the area. New students will often come with family in tow to help them settle in, and The Kendall is honored to provide a welcoming space while they stay.

The school opened as Boston Tech in 1865, and became the Massachusetts Institute of Technology when it was moved to Cambridge in 1916. Since then, the private school has grown to over 11,000 students with alumni that range from Ben Bernanke, to Buzz Aldrin, to the Magliozzi brothers of NPR’s Car Talk.

Although with a reputation for its more intensive, technical courses like Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science, MIT provides a broad education with highly-regarded departments in the arts and humanities. Classes like glass blowing  and an opportunity to obtain ‘The Pirate Certificate,’ allow students to exert their creativity and drive in other areas.

Events are already happening around campus for returning students, and the List Visual Arts Center continues to provide creative and engaging opportunities for adults and children. Year-round, MIT offers visitors student or self-guided walking tours that feature public art displays and world-famous architects.

The Kendall Hotel welcomes all new and returning students, and is grateful for the energy, innovation and art that MIT brings to the neighborhood. We are pleased to have families and visiting faculty stay at The Kendall throughout the year.
